D/H

The central zone of Chile goes through a several drought in the past last years; this produced a shortage of water in an area where the main economic activity is agriculture. In the winter of 2014 a report from the Chilean government showed that water resources were less than 50% of the normal precipitation in a year, mainly because of climate change. In comparison, the past winters instead of having characteristic cloudy days, the sky had a deep blue colour that is usually associated with warm temperatures and summer, paradoxically the same colour of the water that is missing. These two blues that can be confused in a photograph and that are not able to unveil the background of the missing component. "D/H" is the search for something that is not visible but that is there, and yet being habitual disappears in our mind, water. And as the transformation of the image is a representation of the water itself and its constant transformations, and at the same time, its lack becomes a symbol of how we represent it.

La zona central de Chile pasa por una sequía en los últimos años; esto produjo una escasez de agua en una zona donde la principal actividad económica es la agricultura. En el invierno del año 2014 un informe del gobierno de Chile, mostraba que los recursos de agua eran menos del 50% de la precipitación normal en un año, principalmente a causa del cambio climático. En comparación, los inviernos pasados en vez de tener los días nublados característicos, el cielo tenía un color azul profundo que normalmente es asociado a temperaturas cálidas y al verano, paradójicamente el mismo color del agua que falta. Estos dos azules que pueden confundirse en una fotografía y que no son capaces de develar el trasfondo del componente que falta. "D/H" es la búsqueda de algo que no es visible pero que está ahí, y sin embargo al ser habitual desaparece en nuestra mente, el agua. Y como la transformación de la imagen es una representación del agua en sí y sus constantes transformaciones, y a la vez, su falta se vuelve un símbolo de como la representamos.
